About us
Our Victorian red brick building is over 100 years old, but we feel that our educational approach to be the best up-to-date practice for our children. We have a tradition of a happy environment, sound educational standards and a genuine concern for the welfare of our children.

About the Role
Post Reference (to be used on application form): JPPS-LSA3
Pay Details: Grade 5, SCP 8-12, £22,777 - £24,496 pro rata
Days / Hours per Week: 30 Hours per week / 39 weeks per year/ daily during term time (subject to change depending on the needs of the school)
Permanent / Temporary: Permanent

About you
The LSA should be appropriately qualified:
Very good numeracy/literacy skills.
NVQ 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification
Training in the relevant strategies to support learning e.g. Makaton, literacy or specific areas of hearing, sign language, dyslexia, ICT, Maths and English.
Appropriate first aid training.
The LSA should have knowledge and understanding of:
how to support children in literacy and numeracy;
how children learn and how to motivate them.
the principles of child development and the learning process
principles of positive behaviour management
safeguarding processes
The LSA will be able to:
work with an individual or a group;
reinforce teaching points during teacher input;
model acceptable behaviour;
Use specialist (curricular/learning) skills/training/experience to support pupils.
Assist with the development and implementation of IDPs.
Attend to pupils' personal needs, and implement related personal programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, toileting, feeding and mobility.
The LSA will:
Show a calm approach
Maintain confidentiality
Have an understanding nature
Be enthusiastic, energetic and hard working
Have the ability to adapt to a variety of situations
Demonstrate initiative in the class room
Be passionate about seeing children progress in all aspects of their life
Have a sense of humour
DBS Check Required: Enhanced

Description:
- To support individuals and groups of pupils to enable access to learning, this could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in specific areas or personal care.
- To work under the guidance of teaching and/ or the school leadership team and within an agreed system of supervision contributing to the teachers planning cycle to ensure all pupils have equal access to learning.
