Dylan Thomas Community School is a happy and safe school where the needs of all pupils are catered for and taken into account. All staff play a key part in ensuring that this continues. The successful candidate will be offered the full support and resources of the school to develop professionally in a highly supportive environment with inspirational and supportive colleagues.
In our February 2024 Inspection, Estyn stated that "Staff at Dylan Thomas Community School offer pupils a consistently high quality of Care, Support & Guidance. The school has an inclusive family feel and there are strong relationships between pupils and staff"The successful candidate will add to this and will also benefit from a strong, supportive staff wellbeing programme.
Governors are seeking to appoint an Attendance Support Assistant to work towards the school focus of improving whole school attendance by contacting parents and carers to establish reasons for absence, maintaining accurate records, producing attendance reports to identify patterns of non-attendance and/or lateness as well as providing general administrative duties.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The Attendance Support Assistant will play an integral role in pupil safeguarding ensuring all children are as safe as they can possibly be.
The successful candidate will be expected to have excellent interpersonal skills to build strong and positive relationships with parents and carers to directly reduce the impact of low attendance on educational attainment.
Based at reception in the main school office you will work alongside a supportive school admin team under the line management of the Assistant Headteacher for Pastoral & Wellbeing and the Office Manager
