About usThe exciting role is within the Vale of Glamorgan's Specialist Provision which is part of the Vale of Glamorgan's Wellbeing and ALN Directorate. The job is based within the new Dual Provision Specialist Resource Base within the Caretaker's House at Holton Primary School.
We are seeking to appoint a committed and motivated LSA to join our newly established, fast paced and evolving Specialist Resource Base. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a small, energetic, hardworking and enthusiastic team dedicated to providing high quality provision for pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and going that extra mile.
The role involves working with primary aged pupils both within the Resource Base and across the Vale of Glamorgan through our Outreach offering.

About the role
Pay details : Grade 5, spinal point 8-12 + ALN allowance
Work pattern:30 hours : 5 days a week
Main place of work: Old Caretaker's House, Holton Primary School, Barry, Vale of Glamorgan
Description:An exciting opportunity to join our small, energetic, hardworking and enthusiastic team at the new Centre of Excellence in Holton Primary School. The role involves supporting pupils with social communication, anxiety, interaction or regulation difficulties needs, to access the curriculum using a variety of specialist strategies and enabling them to be fully involved in all aspects of school life.
On a day to day basis, this entails support for individual pupils on a one to one or small group work basis within the Resource Base.
The successful candidate will work with pupils with social communication, anxiety, interaction or regulation difficulties needs across Progression steps 1 to 3.
The role additionally requires supporting the Specialist Teacher with outreach / transition work in other schools within the Vale of Glamorgan when required.

About you
You will need to have:
- An understanding of the educational and social needs of pupils with social communication, interaction and emotional regulation difficulties, and how these needs impact learning
- Previous and recent experience of working with children in a primary school setting
- Experience of supporting pupils with additional learning needs in particularly Autism Spectrum Condition
- The ability to support pupils across all areas of the curriculum using a range of specialist strategies
- Experience of delivering one-to-one and small group interventions
- An understanding of Individual Development Plans and person-centred approaches
- The ability to implement strategies to support communication, social interaction, sensory regulation and independence
- Good behaviour management skills and the ability to support pupils with emotional regulation and transitions
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to provide clear feedback to colleagues and parents as appropriate
- Experience in writing formal reports for pupils or a willingness to learn
- Good organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work independently using initiative, as well as collaboratively as part of a team
- A calm, consistent and positive approach, acting as a strong role model for pupils
- Good ICT skills to support learning and classroom practice
- A willingness to undertake relevant training and develop specialist skills
- A willingness to carry out outreach and transition work under the direction of the Specialist Teacher, as required
- A calm, consistent and positive approach, acting as a strong role model for pupils and colleagues
- A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and ongoing professional development
- A driving licence with business insurance or the desire to obtain
