Job information
Post No. POSN000992 - Teaching Assistant Level 3 Milton Primary School

The Headteacher, Governing Body and children at Milton Primary School are excited to welcome applications for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant. We are looking for someone who shares our strong commitment to children's wellbeing and academic achievement, and who is eager to contribute to curriculum development and the wider life of our school.

At Milton, wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do—for both children and staff. We are proud to be a Milton family: a warm, inclusive community where everyone is supported, valued, and encouraged to grow.

You could be the one for us if you:
- Are a caring practitioner who places the wellbeing of children at the heart of their practice
- Can work well in a team, modelling excellent relationships with both pupils and staff
- Are sensitive to the emotional, social and wellbeing needs of children
- Have a sound understanding of child development
- Can build strong relationships with parents and the wider school community
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

We can offer you:
- A happy, warm, welcoming and supportive school environment
- Children who are eager to learn and thrive
- A strong commitment to your professional learning and development, including potential opportunities to gain experience towards becoming a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

If you’re passionate about making a difference and want to be part of a school that truly values wellbeing and growth, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note the timescales involved below. This post will commence January 5th 2025.

The appointment process will involve an observation of each candidate working with a group of children.
Closing Date: Friday 28th November 2025
Shortlisting: Monday 1st December 2025
Observations: Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd December 2025
Interview Date: Friday 5th December 2025

Please contact the Headteacher, Mrs Corinne Burke, if you would like the opportunity to discuss this post further, 01633 656699.

We welcome applications for all our jobs in either Welsh or English. An application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English.

Newport City Council is committed to working towards its workforce being more representative of the population that we serve and particularly welcomes applications from people from minority ethnic communities represented (or living) in the city. Selection will be made on ability and skills to undertake the role.

Newport City Council is not currently supporting applicants with sponsorship for right to work. In applying for a vacancy, applicants should already have the right to work in the UK.
