The Executive Headteacher and Governing Body of Pillgwenlly Primary School are seeking a senior leader who has a proven track record of successfully inspiring staff and pupils to achieve high standards in teaching, learning and wellbeing. We are a highly inclusive school that is working to develop excellent relationships with all stakeholders in school. We are looking for an experienced Assistant Headteacher who will be able to strategically lead Teaching and Learning across the school.

Pillgwenlly Primary School has very recently moved into a brand-new building. The new school serves a multicultural and multilingual community in the heart of a diverse inner-city community within Newport, South Wales and enjoys excellent facilities which benefit the pupils and supports community engagement. This extensive three-form entry school provides education for children aged 3 to 11 years and has a 20-place generic Additional Learning Needs Resource Base. The school is within the John Frost cluster of primary schools.
The school has recently been placed in an Estyn Statutory Category and requires an experienced school leader who has drive and ambition and who will work alongside our committed staff and governing body to bring about the rapid and sustained improvement required; so that we become the excellent school we aspire to be.
We are seeking an excellent practitioner who can:
- inspire children and adults to develop a love of learning
- demonstrate total dedication to the inclusion of all pupils
- an understanding of effective primary age pedagogy
- the ability to develop positive relationships with all pupils, staff, parents and governors
- motivate others to have high expectations in teaching, learning and behaviour across the school
- use expertise in teaching and learning to inspire and support other staff
- show commitment to professional development of others
