Sea View Community Primary School: School Premises Caretaker

The Governing Body of Sea View Community Primary School are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, reliable, self-motivated, hardworking and conscientious person who would like to provide a key role in maintaining our school community to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for the whole school.

The successful candidate will:
  • be expected to undertake general caretaking duties, including cleaning, to maintain high standards to support children's learning and where appropriate, carry out repairs, maintenance and upgrades of the school and the grounds
  • to undertake the responsibility of the site security of our school including main key holder duties when required
  • possess a range of general maintenance skills including carpentry, plumbing, electrical and decorating
  • be able to work effectively as part of a team that looks after the health and safety of staff, pupils and visitors as well as the security of the whole site
  • have a current, full driving licence
  • undertake the PAT testing on all electrical equipment
  • be able to work within a dynamic and challenging environment
  • have an ability to work on their own initiative in recognising jobs that require attention and prioritise their daily workload
  • have physical fitness to undertake some heavy lifting, moving and handling including general portage
  • have excellent communication skills
  • be cheerful, polite and enjoy working with children, parents and staff
  • have a firm understanding of, and compliance with, safeguarding requirements
  • have a willingness to participate in training and development
  • take pride in helping to maintain and develop our school grounds and outdoor learning provision
  • to work alongside the school cleaners.

Previous experience would be beneficial, but training will be provided. The hours of work are Monday to Friday and to be agreed with the Headteacher.

Sea View Community Primary School is totally committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Therefore, an enhanced DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check is required for successful applicants.
