The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two individuals to join our well-established and highly successful ESOL team, delivering on a range of ESOL courses.

The ESOL team is based in our historic Llwyn Y Bryn campus, located in the Uplands area of Swansea. Gower College Swansea currently has just over 700 ESOL learners, who are looking to develop their English Language skills with a view to progressing onto higher levels of learning or into employment.

To cater for increasing demand, we are seeking applications from outstanding individuals to deliver exceptional teaching and learning experiences for our ESOL learners. If you are passionate about teaching people from a wide variety of backgrounds, including asylum seekers and refugees, this could be a hugely rewarding career.
  • Part-time (18.5 hours per week)
  • Fixed term until August 2025
  • £12,685 - £24,967 per annum
  • Llwyn-Y-Bryn & Kingsway campus
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and teach across a range of courses ensuring schemes/records of work, assignment schedules, are appropriate to the syllabus content and awarding body standards
  • Develop and employ a variety of teaching and learning strategies, including the use of ILT, delivering successful outcomes for our students
  • Assist the team in achieving targets for retention and attainment
About you:
  • Possess a degree, or equivalent, in a relevant area
  • Hold a CELTA certificate (or level 5 equivalent)
  • Possess a recognised Teaching Qualification (PGCE), or be prepared to work towards one
  • Knowledge and experience of teaching non-native speakers of English
  • Be committed to continuous improvement and quality and have a sincere desire to help our students achieve
  • Clear and confident communicator with excellent organisational and problem solving skills

Interview process:
  • Interviews are scheduled for 20th January 2025.
  • All lecturing roles require a 20 minute micro-teach as part of the interview process
  • The micro-teach is then followed by a panel interview
  • Due to the micro-teach element of the process,interviews must be conducted in-person
