Gwyrosydd Primary School : Head Teacher

Cyngor Abertawe
Gwyrosydd Primary School aims to provide every child with an excellent educational experience, which is enjoyable, stimulating and safe, enabling them to reach their full potential. We are a large school, with big ideas, and do not set limits on what our children can aspire to and achieve. Our motto is, 'Working together to unlock our potential'

The governors of Gwyrosydd Primary are looking for a passionate, innovative and inspirational leader who has the necessary professional skills to continue our school improvement journey. We are looking for a dynamic leader who will further develop a clear vision for the school, whilst ensuring that it continues to strive forward with national and local priorities.

The school sets high expectations and places a strong emphasis on empowering staff to unlock the potential for pupils to thrive. Our school has a highly inclusive environment with a strong ethos of wellbeing and support. The school already plays a key role in the local community by placing value on the strengths of everyone.

We are looking for an experienced school leader who enjoys challenge, is forward-looking, and has a clear vision how to sustain ongoing school improvement. The new Headteacher would have the exciting opportunity to take our school further as it looks to develop opportunities for our staff and pupils to excel in all aspects of school life.

We are seeking a Headteacher with:

  • a passion for supporting and improving the wellbeing of all
  • a belief that all children, regardless of background, can succeed
  • strong strategic leadership skills
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to motivate and empower others
  • a clear vision to promote effective pedagogy
  • the ability to look beyond the school gates and develop positive, effective relationships with families and the wider community
  • the ability to support school-wide leadership aiming towards a self-improving model
  • the skills to support the iterative process of curriculum design and review

In return, we can offer you:
  • a committed and caring staff team who are dedicated to the school and its ethos
  • happy children who enjoy learning and wider opportunities
  • caring environment that allows all pupils to develop positive aspirations
  • dedicated and experienced governors
  • a commitment to ongoing professional learning at all levels

Applicants who are not already headteachers are required to have the National Professional Qualification for Headteachers (NPQH).
