DescriptionThis position offers an exciting and challenging opportunity for a proactive, enthusiastic, and skilled lecturer with a strong background in English and extensive experience in GCSE and A Level teaching.

What you will be doing?The successful candidate will be pivotal in delivering English GCSE and A Level courses. The post may also have the opportunity to serve as a personal tutor for an A Level group. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious lecturer to join a department that consistently strives to improve student outcomes. Many of our English students progress to courses in Literature, Journalism, Education, and other related fields at top universities. The successful candidate will be a key player in supporting students to achieve their academic and career goals, feeling valued and integral to our mission.

This role allows you to combine your exceptional teaching and learning skills with high-level planning and organisation. The post holder should thoroughly know the WJEC GCSE and A Level English curriculum. What will you need?Essential
  • Degree in English Language or English Literature
  • A Level English Language or English Literature GCSE English Minimum Grade B
  • GCSE Mathematics or O Level Minimum Grade C
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels both orally and in writing
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work harmoniously with learners and colleagues
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent punctuality and ability to work flexibly
Desirable
  • Teaching qualification (If you are not in possession of a teaching qualification as at the date of employment, you will be required to obtain a PGCE within 2 years of this date)
  • Relevant teaching experience
  • A good understanding of relevant issues in post 16 education
  • A proven track record of high levels of learner attainment
  • Awareness of key performance indicators
  • Evidence of innovative teaching and learning activities
  • Evidence of effective tracking and monitoring of learner performance
  • Experience of actively participating in the pastoral care of young people
Welsh Language Requirements:
  • Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 0/1
  • Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 0/1
