Job Description

Grade 3 - £22,737 for 30 hours per week term time only for 45.8 weeks per annum equating to £16,193.74 pro rata rising to 46.8 weeks, £16,547.31 pro rata per annum after 5 years' service.

Ysgol Greenhill School is an 11 to 19 comprehensive school that serves the historic walled town of Tenby and surrounding areas. Based in the picturesque surroundings of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, the school is a caring, inclusive and a welcoming environment where pupils and staff are proud of their strong values and ethos.

Ysgol Greenhill is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join the Expressive Arts Area of Learning (AoLE) to support pupils in their learning, development, and overall experience to reach their full potential within the department. As a Technician the person should promote high aspirations and high expectations with all pupils

Over the past few years, the Expressive Arts and Design & Technology (AoLE) department has expanded significantly, offering a diverse range of subjects to our learners at KS3, KS4, and KS5

Our AoLE currently provides courses in Art, Music, Engineering, Construction, Textiles, Performing Arts, and Hospitality & Catering. The department is well-equipped including:

  • A variety of CAD/CAM machines, such as a laser cutter and 3D printers
  • A purpose-built drama studio
  • Three workshops to teach Engineering and Construction
  • An undercover outdoor construction yard for brickwork
  • A dedicated textiles room
  • Two music classrooms
  • A rock music room and multiple music practice rooms
  • Several food preparations rooms

Within this role as a Technician, you will:

  • Provide practical and technical support across the AoLE
  • Assist students and staff in the use of workshop machinery and equipment
  • Ensure the safe operation of all tools and machinery, in compliance with Health & Safety regulations
  • Maintain and organise workshop resources, materials, and equipment
  • Support students in engaging with a wide range of subjects across the AoLE
  • Help students in achieving their potential by supporting small group intervention sessions.
  • ⁠Receive and check all deliveries of materials and sundries and to advise about stock level
  • Perform regular checks on dust extraction, workshop machines, safety equipment and workshop tools.
  • Complete a D1 driving test in order to drive minibus for educational visits.
  • First aid trained / training to be completed as the designated department first aider.

This is a term-time position; however, there may be opportunities for additional hours, which would include completing extra maintenance tasks within the AoLE and assisting the site team with general maintenance across the school. Further details can be discussed during the interview.
