This position requires a teacher who has a sound knowledge of the structure of Language, Communication and Literacy curriculum in Welsh 2 nd language schools. They will also need a clear vision and knowledge of what constitutes effective teaching and learning of Welsh. This includes knowledge of current, effective strategies, for example, Language Charter - Cymraeg Campus. The successful candidate is expected to work with other officers to develop and promote high quality teaching and learning experiences. The successful candidate will need to have excellent communication and motivational skills to promote Welsh across all second language schools/settings in Swansea. Appointees will be able to cascade clear understanding of the Curriculum for Wales and will be able to support schools to be successful. The candidate is expected, as necessary, to provide high quality professional learning. This will include model lessons, tailored/bespoke support, timetabled training, practitioner and leadership development, improvement planning and team development.

This position will require excellent presentation skills along with a good understanding of the continuing professional development opportunities provided by national, regional and local partners. The appointee will support the development of policies, plans and strategies that aim to meet the objectives set out in Swansea's Corporate Plan.

You will:

• a qualified teacher who holds a full and valid driving licence;
• solid experience and understanding of successfully leading the Welsh Second Language;
• a strong vision of effective teaching and learning;
• a firm awareness of the structure of the Language Charter - Cymraeg Campus;
• a willingness to work flexibly within the team to achieve our shared objectives;
• enthusiastic, motivated, organised and work confidently using your own initiative with headteachers, teachers and governors (where necessary);
• supporting schools to prepare and deliver an organised and challenged curriculum for the schools for the purpose of improving their ability to deliver high quality learning and teaching
• responsible for preparing and delivering high quality, inspirational training centrally and in settings;
• conduct regular visits to schools and venues to advise and consult on actions for improvement, to share best practice and summarise your visits in the form of a report;
• providing support and advice on language immersion styles and language awareness;
• identify effective learning and teaching practice that can be shared within and across networks;
• enthusiasm and energy to raise the momentum of the Charter Language in our second language schools;
• to promote, and share information to Coordinators regarding the aim, objectives and operation of the Charter Language in the school and community, e.g. newsletter, school website, Twitter account
• act as a result of discussing pupils' ideas, leaders on ways to promote/maintain/increase the use of Welsh in the classroom, school, yard and local community.
