Glasllwch Primary School provides education for pupils between 3 and 11. It is located in an economically advantaged, residential area of Newport and is within the John Frost cluster of primary schools. There are currently 210 pupils on roll plus 15 full time equivalent pupils in the nursery which opened in September 2015.
Our motto, ‘Today’s learning for Tomorrow’s Stars’ is underpinned by ‘Belief, Opportunity and High Expectations’. They unite us and help us to strive to be a centre of excellence.
Our last Inspection Report (November 2019) identified Glasllwch’s current performance as ‘Excellent’ in all 5 Inspection Areas. We continue to sustain high academic standards whilst developing a creative, learner-centered, skills-focused curriculum that is driven by the four purposes and inclusive of all learners.
The Governing Body and Head Teacher of Glasllwch Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, hardworking, caring and reliable Teaching Assistant to start on Monday 3rd June 2024.
This will initially be a fixed term, temporary contract up until the end of March 2025
The position is for 37 hours a week, 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Thursday, 8.30am – 4pm Friday.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to work as part of a team
• A commitment to working with learners
• Experience of working with Early Years
• High standards in basic skills
• A love of learning
• An open to learning mindset
• The ability to use your own initiative and to be flexible
The successful candidate will:
• Work under the guidance of teaching staff and or/members of the school leadership team
• Support individuals and groups of pupils to enable access to learning
• Assist the teacher with the management of pupils in the classroom and beyond
• Assist the teacher with admin and developing / maintaining a creative learning environment
