Penllergaer Primary School - Headteacher

Cyngor Abertawe
Penllergaer Primary is a vibrant and inclusive school. The specialist teaching facility and its pupils are an integral element of daily school life. Our school motto, 'our school is for everyone,' underpins our principle aims and aspirations.

The Governors of Penllergaer Primary are looking for a passionate, innovative and inspirational leader who has the necessary professional skills to build on the solid foundations that are already in place. We are looking for a dynamic leader who will place great value on, and grow the existing vision for the school, whilst ensuring that it continues to strive forward with national and local priorities.

The school sets high expectations and places a strong emphasis on empowering staff and pupils alike creating a climate where pupils and staff thrive. Our school has an inclusive environment with a strong ethos of wellbeing and support. The school already plays a key role in the local community, and we wish to develop this further in the coming years. The Local Development Plan includes the potential for the school to relocate to a newly built school within a nearby development.

We are looking for an experienced school leader who enjoys challenge, is forward looking, compassionate and has a clear vision to drive for high standards through a pupil-centred approach. As an excellent school, the new Headteacher would have the exciting opportunity to take our school further as it looks to develop opportunities for our staff and pupils to excel in all aspects of school life.

We are seeking a Headteacher with: -
  • a commitment to enhance our distinctive and inclusive vision and ethos
  • a passion for supporting and improving the wellbeing of all
  • a belief that all children, regardless of background, can succeed
  • strong strategic leadership skills
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to motivate and empower others
  • a clear vision to promote effective pedagogy
  • the ability to look beyond the school gates and develop positive, effective relationships with families and the wider community
  • the ability to support school-wide leadership aiming towards a self-improving model
  • the skills to support the iterative process of curriculum design and review

In return, we can offer you:
  • a committed and caring staff team who are dedicated to the school and its ethos
  • happy children who enjoy learning and wider opportunities
  • caring environment that allows all pupils to develop positive aspirations
  • supportive and engaged parents
  • dedicated and experienced governors
  • a commitment to ongoing professional learning at all levels
