Due to the retirement of the previous post holder, the Governing Body of St. Julian’s Primary School is seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic professional with energy and vision to assist the Headteacher in leading this highly successful school. You will have strong leadership qualities and management experience.
St. Julian’s Primary School is a community primary school situated in the north-east of the city of Newport. The school opened in 2009, following the amalgamation of the infant and junior schools, which had been established in 1952. The school is a large three-form entry school with around 650 children on roll. We are an effective learning community with a positive ethos.

The successful candidate will take a lead on curriculum innovation and professional learning. Much of this role will be non-teaching though there will be some allocated teaching commitment.
The successful candidate will:
• Be an exemplary classroom practitioner with proven curriculum leadership skills
• Have a strong understanding of curriculum developments in Wales
• Be innovative, creative and a strategic thinker, able to turn ideas and opportunities into successful practice.
• Have strong leadership qualities and significant management experience
• Have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
• Have the ability to motivate, inspire and generate enthusiasm in a team environment
• Have strong experience of managing change
• Have a flexible and positive approach to challenge and change
• Have a strong professional development record and have aspirations for leadership
• Be happy to commit to the wider life of the school
• Be positive and with a warm sense of humour
• Have the skills necessary to be able to energise, motivate and lead others to reach the highest possible standards.
