Lliswerry High School is a thriving, multi-cultural, 11-18 mixed comprehensive school on the eastern side of Newport close to the M4. We are currently looking to add to our bank of casual examination invigilators who will ensure school exams are carried out in line with legal requirements.

Although the main examination season is in May/June, there are also other examinations that take place in January and November, both internal and externally. The successful appointees will be required to supervise these examinations and ensure that all aspects of the examination process from the setting up of the room to the collecting of final papers are carried out in accordance with the schools Examinations Officer’s instruction.

Successful candidates will be expected to be available to assist with the exam timetable which is issued in advance so candidates can confirm their individual availability, candidates will also be required to undertake an annual training session to ensure they are aware of any updated guidelines issued from the examining bodies. Duties will typically include:

Assisting in the setting up of the examination room

Helping in the opening and distribution of question papers and other authorised materials to candidates

Supervising the orderly entry of students into the exam room and ensuring that they are correctly identified and seated according to the seating plan

Dealing with late comers and candidates not on the candidate list

Starting examinations according to the regulations and ensuring that the examination regulations are observed throughout the exam

Maintaining active invigilation throughout the examination to ensure that no cheating occurs

Taking responsibility for a group of candidates when in the exam room

Ending exams in accordance with the regulations

Collecting exam scripts and arranging in candidate number order

Returning all exam scripts, unused papers, registers and other materials to the Exams Office immediately after the end of the exam

Maintaining security and confidentiality

Assisting in other activities as may be required by the centre from time to time

Assisting with on‐line testing, where some ICT experience would be essential

The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate a professional and supportive attitude to work and he able to follow examination guidelines. The ability to communicate effectively with a range of staff and learners is essential as is the ability to promote a calm and supportive environment.
