Key Job Requirements:
- Assess and take relevant action within child protection guidelines when a disclosure is made, or information shared that would be considered potential/significant risk to a child
- Informing/meeting parents if school intends to refer to Social Services prior to making a referral
- Share detailed accurate information with Social Services enabling the appropriate steps to be taken in the best interest of the child
- Represent the school and submit relevant reports within timescales for: Child protection conferences, Child in need meetings, LAC reviews, Core group meetings, and other appropriate multi-agency meetings
- To work with teaching staff in devising and implementing individual learning plans to promote pupils' academic, social, emotional and behavioural development.
- Lead the school in making effective use of MyConcern
- Supporting the role of parents in pupils' learning and contribute to/lead meetings with parents to provide constructive feedback on pupil progress/behaviour etc.
- Work alongside the support staff to ensure pupils have consistent messages at home and in school
- To liaise, when needed, with parents keeping them fully informed about any issues or concerns that arise
- To improve attendance of all pupils, particularly those in families causing concern
- Make home visits to talk to parents about issues and to offer advice about strategies to deal with problems
The right candidate will:
- Be able to build good rapport with pupils, staff, parents and other professional groups
- Be a good team member with ability to work on their own
- Have high standards of communication skills - written and verbal
- Be self-motivated and show initiative
- Have up to date child protection and support training
- Have up to date skills in domestic abuse needs
- Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required
- Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
