We are currently looking for two Flying Start Parenting Workers to join our dynamic and friendly team.

Flying Start is a Welsh Government program, which seeks to target support for pre-school children and their families within identified areas, and to deliver specific outcomes for children. From September, a phased expansion of the program requires us to expand the early years and family support workforce here in Neath Port Talbot.

Working under the supervision of the Flying Start Parenting Lead, within the multi agency Flying Start Team you will carry out a range of duties to support the continued development and delivery of parenting support within the project in Neath Port Talbot, with a key focus promoting positive parenting to families. Experience of Parent Nurture training, or a commitment to attending in-depth training is crucial to the success of the project. You will hold a caseload of parents with varying needs, some very complex and key tasks will involve lone working. Knowledge/awareness of Social Services, Safeguarding, Child Protection, Court Proceedings, court reports and Statements is essential for this post.

The post holder will need a wide range of skills and experience of working with and alongside parents that are facing difficulties. An ability to work under pressure to complete work by set timescales is essential.

Ideally you will have;
  • A relevant Level 3 Qualification or above
  • A good sound knowledge of child development
  • Training or willingness to undertake training in supporting parents and young children
  • A calm and understanding manner, with a person centred approach
  • Understanding and/or experience of parenting in the current climate
If you are looking for a rewarding, yet challenging career, with many training and development opportunities, and the chance to work alongside many skilled and talented professionals within Early Years, Flying Start Neath Port Talbot is the team for you!

If you think that you have the necessary experience and qualifications for this role, we would love to hear from you.

If you intend on applying for this position via a secondment opportunity, you must seek approval from your current manager before submitting an application form.
