Job Title: Communication Support Worker BSL
Contract: Casual Contract, Term Time only
Hours: Minimum of 4 hours per week across a 34 week period.
Salary: £15.06 - £16.09 per hour
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Inclusive Learning department for a casual Communication Support Worker BSL. The post holder will support learners in conveying the content of lectures, tutorials and other activities in a form appropriate to the needs of the learners e.g. BSL, SSE, modifying language or note taking.
This may also involve facilitating communication between students and their peers/tutor/other colleagues.
Responsibilities include:
The ability to communicate with learners through the medium of BSL is essential for this role.
Whilst the ability to speak Welsh is not essential for the role, we would love to hear from candidates who are fluent and can engage with learners through the medium of Welsh.

- Working with students in class to offer individual/small group support to enable learning and integrate the students into College life. Adapting and modifying content, structure and language.
- Supporting students to use assistive technology and specialist software.
- Liaising with teaching staff to ensure that all students are able to access the support they need to enable learning. This will include:
- Accessing lesson content in advance and fully preparing for lessons.
- Discussing the role of the CSW during the class.
- Working with students during cross-College events to support their integration into College life.
- Supporting learners outside the classroom e.g. on College trips, during work experience (where necessary).
- Maintaining accurate records, reporting on the needs and progress of students, using IT systems.
The ability to communicate with learners through the medium of BSL is essential for this role.
