An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Systems Developer within the Systems Development department at Cardiff and Vale College. This role will be based at the One Canal Parade location.

The successful candidate for the post will have a sound educational background and experience of using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and Access. They will be able to demonstrate a good technical understanding and have a strong interest in programming including HTML, JavaScript, SQL or PHP. The candidate will also have good interpersonal skills and an enthusiasm for customer service, learning new skills and developing dynamic, high-quality solutions.
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
  • Support all staff with the integration of the College's managed learning environment (Moodle) into the course delivery for all areas of the College.
  • Support in the development of reports for the college student records system.
  • Produce a comprehensive suite of web-based tutorials and training materials on the use of business systems.
  • Provide an induction for new staff to the purpose and use of College business systems that are pertinent to their role.
  • Keep abreast of the latest versions, features and functionalities of all college business systems.
  • Liaise with users and software suppliers to resolve any issues or queries.
  • To maintain and administer the College's OnTrack Teaching and Learning modules - ILP, MarkBook and Pastoral.
  • To maintain and administer the departmental helpdesk.
  • Welsh language skills would be desirable for this role.
