Young People’s School Based Counsellor: PART-TIME (0.5 FTE) PERMANENT POST



NJC Grade 9 (scale point 28-31)



Salary: £34,723 - £37,261 (pro rata, term time only)

18.5 hours per week

As a Counsellor you will work in Comprehensive Schools, Feeder Primary Schools and in community settings. You will join a friendly and committed team of Educational Psychologists and School Based Counsellors and have access to regular clinical supervision, professional supervision, and continuing professional development opportunities.

You will contribute to the ongoing development of the Counselling Service in Caerphilly. This will include individual work (face to face counselling, telephone and online counselling during school hours), group work, support to schools to build capacity related to wellbeing and monitoring and evaluation of the impact of the Service. You will have a good understanding of the Safeguarding, Social Inclusion and Well-being agendas. Experience of working with schools and of providing counselling support to younger age primary children (school years 4-6) would be desirable.

You will hold a minimum of a professional diploma in Counselling Level 5, have evidenced post qualification supervised practice and be accredited /registered with the BACP/UKCP or equivalent. This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau.
