School Cleaner
Location: St Mary’s RC Primary School, Newport
Contract: Temporary until July 2026. 20 hours per week 6:30am – 8:30am and 3:30pm – 5:30pm
Grade: 1
The Governing Body of St Mary’s RC Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated School Cleaning Operative to join our happy and supportive team. St Mary’s RC Primary School is a thriving two-form entry primary school with 406 pupils currently on roll. We are proud to be a successful school where children are enthusiastic, happy, and well-behaved.
We are seeking a hard-working and dedicated School Cleaner to work in our friendly school. You will work as part of a team, undertaking various cleaning duties throughout the school to ensure our children’s learning environment is always clean.
We would like you to have:
Essential
- Experience in cleaning duties and knowledge of best practices in cleaning
- Ability to work under own initiative without supervision
- Aware of the importance of providing a quality service and satisfying the cleaning requirements of the school
- Aware of importance of hygiene in the work place
- Ability to work on your own and to work as part of a team
- Reliable
Desirable
- Understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education and their responsibilities for Safeguarding
- Understanding of Health and Safety regulations as they relate to the operation of cleaning equipment and materials
- Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
- Understanding of the School’s ethos and values
- Understanding of school policies and willing and able to work within these
