The whole school community is committed to establish a nurturing and respectful learning environment within fully inclusive school ethos. Pillgwenlly Primary School is a large, diverse primary school with two learning resources bases for pupils with additional needs. Pillgwenlly Primary School is a brand new school building and benefits from high quality ALN spaces such as sensory rooms and large outdoors spaces designated for ALN pupils.

The Headteacher and Governing Body of Pillgwenlly Primary School are looking for a teacher who is able to provide a nurturing approach to high quality additional needs provision within one of the learning resource bases at the school. We are looking for an experienced Early Years / progression step 1 teacher who understands child development and how to create a highly stimulating sensory environment for our pupils. We want a teacher who strives for excellence who will be able to contribute to the aims of the school which are Respect, Equity, Excellence.

The post will commence at the start of the Summer term on Monday 13th April 2026, an SEN allowance is attached to this post. This post is offered on a permanent basis.

We are seeking an excellent practitioner who has:

● significant expertise in teaching and learning from Nursery - Year 2

● total dedication to the inclusion of all pupils with knowledge of a range of strategies to support pupils with additional learning needs

● high expectations of learning and behaviour for all pupils and is able to plan for individual needs

● digitally competent with excellent organisation skills and attention to detail

● able to manage a team of staff effectively

● collaborates and communicates well with all pupils, staff, parents, governors and outside agencies

The appointment process will involve a lesson observation, following which successful candidates will be invited to attend an interview with the Headteacher and members of the SLT.
