The Head Teacher and Governing Body of St. Andrew’s Primary School are seeking to appoint a permanent part time caretaker who will have responsibility for the closing of the school site and ensuring that the school is kept clean and in a state of general good repair.
This post is a part-time time position working 30 hours per week between the hours of 1.00pm - 7.00pm (Monday - Friday) during term time and 8:00am to 2:00pm (Monday – Friday during school holiday periods. Annual holiday entitlement will be required to be taken during school holiday periods.
Candidates will be expected:
* to be responsible for site security.
* to attend to the daily closing (including lettings) of the premises at the designated times.
* to assist with and carry out a range of minor maintenance duties.
* to ensure school grounds are kept clean and tidy (including picking up litter and emptying bins).
* to undertake basic cleaning duties as and when required.
* to replenish soap, paper towels, toilet paper and tissues in lavatories and classrooms as appropriate and when necessary.
* to assist or undertake periodic designated compliance testing and checks, such as inspection of Play Equipment, Fire Alarm/Sprinkler Tests, Legionella Tests.
* to provide a porterage service on site as necessary.
* to have responsibility as one of the designated key holders (this may require the need to attend call out at unsociable hours or at weekends to deal with security problems, or make emergency repairs or allow access for emergency repairs).
* to cover periods of leave of Premises Manager including providing access to premises for Contractors in school holidays.

There will be requirement for overtime hours to be worked from time to time.
The appointment is offered on a part-time permanent contract, to start on Monday 16th February 2026. Initial hours of work between Monday 16th February and Friday 20th February 2026 will be 10:00am to 4:00pm to allow for initial on the job training.
