About the role:
We are currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Training Advisor - Employability. NPT Skills & Training Unit operate within Neath Port Talbot and across South Wales, delivering work based learning programmes, providing vocational training and learning. We work within schools and specialist units, with post 16 young people and employed apprentices across several sectors. NPT Skills & Training are constantly developing their provision and are a growing team, providing many opportunities for staff to develop their own skills, experience and progress internally. Staff development programmes are available to staff to further enhance their career.
As a Training Advisor - Employability, you will be required to manage caseload of learners/pupils/young people undertaking a variety of courses, qualifications and work based learning programmes offered by Skills & Training across various industry sectors. The post holder will ensure that all learners are given appropriate training, support and guidance in order to achieve their qualifications and other key performance indicators in place to meet the programmes objectives and outcomes. This will involve working and teaching in schools, NPT training centres, external organisations and at employers premises.
The post holder should have a good knowledge of different types of Industries and associated careers, local labour market and skills needs in order to deliver highly engaging, relevant and exciting courses/qualifications to young people.
Your daily routine will require you to:
- Create/Design/plan and/or deliver appropriate learning materials and resources to support course/qualifications delivered at Skills & Training.
- Undertake teaching sessions with learners in line with their individual learning plan and achieve these within the allocated timescale, assessing and/or verifying qualifications in line with awarding body requirements.
- Manage a caseload of learners, ensuring learners make progress, are reviewed and progress from their programme
- Support with identification of work placements, complete job searching and facilitating employment related activities such as visits off site, guest speakers etc.
- Manage all documentation associated to your activities and caseload, ensuring that targets and deadlines are met timely.
You will need to have a good understanding of local employers and labour market trends to support employability development. You should have experience of working with young people and have a basic understanding of the typical barriers faced by young people and be able to support those who may have additional learning needs/disabilities/health or neurodiversity conditions.
Do you have:
- Experience of delivering/assessing course and or qualifications with young people/pupils in either a school or post 16 environments.
- GCSE (or equivalent/higher) in Maths and English grade C and above/Level 2
- A1/V1 awards/ TAQA and/or internal verifier awards or equivalent or a commitment to work towards them
- NVQ Level 4 in Advice & Guidance or equivalent or a commitment to work towards them.

- Assessor/IQA in Employability
