Post No. POSN004318 - Caretaker - Ysgol Gyfun Gwent Is Coed

Ysgol Gyfun Gwent Is Coed is a Welsh-medium secondary school in Newport. It is located next to Tredegar Park, 20 minutes from Cardiff and 5 minutes from the M4. Our learners come from a unique area in terms of history and culture and we are extremely proud that we are part of the growth in Welsh medium education in South East Wales.

We are a friendly and inclusive school according to our Estyn report in 2022 and we are proud of our ethos of high expectations for the whole school community. Our core values include being ambitious for every individual in the school, creating a happy community where everyone feels they belong and respect each other and developing learners to be confident individuals who embrace their Welshness.

We would like to appoint a caretaker who is enthusiastic and energetic and who'll contribute fully to the school.

Applicants are invited to start in July 2025.

Closing date: Monday the 16th of June 2025

For an informal conversation about the position contact the Headteacher, Eirian Jones, on 01633 851614 or by email on jonese3687@ysgolioncasnewydd.cymru

We are committed to equality of opportunities and actively encourage applications from all sections of the community.

We welcome applications for all our jobs in either Welsh or English. An application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English.

Newport City Council is committed to working towards its workforce being more representative of the population that we serve and particularly welcomes applications from people from minority ethnic communities represented (or living) in the city. Selection will be made on ability and skills to undertake the role.

Newport City Council is not currently supporting applicants with sponsorship for right to work. In applying for a vacancy, applicants should already have the right to work in the UK.
