We are delighted you have shown interest for the position of Head of Phase at Cwmbran High School.
We are looking for an exceptional pastoral/wellbeing staff member who will lead and manage the academic progress of pupils across a school key stage and deliver high quality pastoral support; a dynamic candidate who can demonstrate drive and motivation and is outstanding in their leadership.
The school needs a person who is a strong, reflective and resilient individual, who will integrate seamlessly into the team and be an integral part of our road to success.
Our pastoral/wellbeing team is composed of Phase Leads, Heads of Year and Deputy Heads of Year. Together they support pupils across many aspects school life. We seek an outstanding Phase Leader to lead either our upper (year 10-11), middle (year 8-9) or lower phase (transition & year 6). The right candidate will have to provide exceptional leadership and management of their team to ensure outstanding pastoral provision and exceptional outcomes for our learners. The phase allocated to the successful applicant will be based on the strengths, leadership qualities, characteristics and relevant experience identified at interview.
The three Heads of Phase roles are:
  • Year 5, 6 and 7 Lead (to further establish close links with our six primary partner schools)
  • Years 8 and 9 Lead (to ensure effective development of the CfW and ensure maximum progress)
  • Years 10, 11 Lead (to ensure pupil academia is paramount whilst developing partnership links with post 16 providers/college, or workplace)

This is a fabulous opportunity for a serving pastoral leader to further develop as a professional and support any future application for an Assistant Headteacher Post.
The successful candidate will be line managed by our Deputy Headteacher and would be valuably supported by the skilled wellbeing team including Learning Coaches and Attendance Team who provide outstanding provision to our pupils.
