The Governors of Ponthir Church in Wales School are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and inspirational leader who is committed to developing the long-term future of our successful church school. We require a lead professional who has breadth of vision, creativity, energy and motivation to build on our recent successes and ensure we strive for excellence in all that we do to secure and embrace our Christian vision.

Ponthir Church in Wales School is situated at the heart of the popular community of Ponthir and has a pupil roll of 103 children. It has a close relationship with the local community and a committed and active Parent/Teacher Association. Pupil voice plays an important part in school decision making, enhancing the inclusive and open school environment. Well-being is at the heart of the school for pupils, staff and parents/carers contributing to high levels of success in all areas of school life.

We are looking to appoint a Deputy Headteacher who will:
  • Support the Headteacher with providing dynamic and strategic leadership that drives, motivates and enthuses all stakeholders to achieve their best; creating a shared learning culture and positive climate that permeates through all aspects of school life.
  • Support the Headteacher with establishing creative, responsive and effective approaches to teaching and learning; contributing to the development of collaborative practice and improving the learning experience for all pupils.
  • Empower all pupils to take an active part in their own learning and personal responsibility for improving their future opportunities for educational experience.
  • Collaborate effectively with the whole school community to provide a holistic approach to the care and well-being of all stakeholders.
  • Support the Senior Leadership Team and school as an EAS appointed lead school in International language teaching.
  • Be keen to drive the school forward and to provide the vision to achieve excellence for all.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974).
