32.5 Hrs Per Week, 39 Weeks Per Year
Marshfield Primary School provides education for pupils between 3 and 11. It is located in an economically advantaged, semi-rural residential area of Newport and is within the Bassaleg cluster of primary schools. There are currently 445 pupils on roll plus 20 full time equivalent pupils in the nursery.
In its most recent inspection Estyn stated that: ‘Marshfield Primary School is a stimulating learning environment, in which pupils thrive and make good progress… they enjoy learning and have positive attitudes to school life.’ We continually strive to sustain high academic standards whilst developing a creative, learner-centred, skills-focused curriculum that is driven by the four purposes and inclusive of all learners.
Marshfield Primary School are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, hardworking, caring and reliable teaching assistant. The role will involve working with pupils in the Foundation Phase, including those with additional learning needs either as 1:1 or small group support. Ideally you will have some experience of working with children in a school setting as well as experience of supporting children with additional needs.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
- The ability to work as part of a team
- An adaptable, flexible, patient and professional approach to their role
- Experience of working with pupils requiring additional support
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- A commitment to working with children in order for them to reach their full potential
- High standards in basic skills
- A love of learning
- The ability to use their own initiative
- An excellent understanding of safeguarding principles
- A commitment to support our school in becoming an anti-racism learning organisation
The successful candidate will:
- Work under the guidance of teaching staff and or/members of the school leadership team
- Support individuals and groups of pupils to enable access to learning
- Assist the teacher with the management of pupils in the classroom and beyond
- Assist with pupils at break and lunchtimes
