The Governors of Llanyrafon Primary School wish to appoint a highly motivated and inspirational Deputy Headteacher from January 2025, to help lead and share the future of the school. We require a lead professional who has the breadth of vision, creativity, energy and motivation to continue to build on our successes and ensure we strive for excellence in all that we do.

Our school is situated in a large suburb within Cwmbran which is well resourced with strong community links. We are proud of our inclusive pupil voice committees who play an important part in school decisions. Llanyrafon Primary School strives to provide a happy safe nurturing environment where every child is valued, encouraged and challenged to achieve their full potential.

Wellbeing is at the heart of the school for pupils, staff, parents/carers and this contributes to high levels of success in all areas. We would expect our Deputy Headteacher to play a strong strategic role in leading and managing our wellbeing strategies for staff and all learners including those with ALN.

Our Deputy Headteacher will need to:
  • Be a strategic leader who will work with the headteacher to drive the school forward and provide the vision to achieve excellence for all.
  • Be an outstanding classroom practitioner, promoting and modelling exemplary practice, providing exciting, creative and challenging learning opportunities using technology innovatively.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership and management skills
  • Collaborate effectively with the whole school community to provide a holistic approach to the care and wellbeing of all stakeholders.
  • Empower all pupils to achieve their potential.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974). A comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on all applicants which will include an Enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
