Contract term: Temp, part time

Hours: 32.75 per week - (Mon-Fri 9.30am-2.15pm)

Location: ACT Schools Centre, Cardiff

Starting Salary: £20,975 per annum

About the role: 

ACT Schools is a registered independent school to admit students from the ages of 11-16 years with special educational needs primarily focused to social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. We are passionate about ensuring all young people are equipped with the skills they need to become successful adults.

We are looking for a positive, caring individual who is keen to support learners who encounter challenging behaviours within ACT Schools. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic and patient and will have a full understanding of behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD).

As an employee at our registered independent school, you will be expected to support the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment in line with ESTYN requirements. You will be responsible for supporting group sizes of approximately 7, 11 – 14-year-olds, who have been referred to us, due to either having been or are at risk of being excluded from mainstream education, who are school phobic or are classed as vulnerable.

The role will be based on Cardiff School’s site and will report the Inclusion Lead Officer.

ACT is committed to promoting the Welsh language for both staff and learners, and whilst it is not considered essential criteria, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role.

What we need from you: 

Experience of working with challenging, disengaged learners

Minimum of 3 GCSE’s or equivalent.

Youth Work or Teaching assistant/ teaching qualification or equivalent (or be willing to work towards one as condition of employment).

Ability to communicate effectively to learners, colleagues, managers, parents, stakeholders etc. by telephone, in person and in writing
