About The Service
Bryn y Deryn is a KS4 Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) for 90 learners who have behavioural, emotional, mental health and social difficulties. We have recently moved to our new location at the bottom of Lawrenny Avenue, Canton, CF11 8XB. We have had excellent inspection reports and feedback from parents and visitors.

About the job.
We are looking to appoint to a senior teaching assistant able to offer interventions for learners with academic Additional Learning Needs with learners who have behavioural needs. This role will also consist of being a cover assistant for absent staff.

We are looking to appoint to a senior teaching assistant able to offer interventions for learners with mental health emotional and needs who will also be a cover assistant for absent staff.

To work under the guidance of teaching/ALNCO/senior staff and within an agreed system of supervision, to implement agreed work programmes with individuals/groups, in or out of the classroom. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas and will involve assisting the teachers& ALNCO in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources. Staff may also supervise whole classes occasionally during the short-term absence of teachers. The primary focus will be to maintain good order and to keep learners on task. Cover Supervisors will need to respond to questions and generally assist learners to undertake set activities.

What We Are Looking For From You
The successful applicant will work as part of a team and have previous experience of safeguarding protocols and procedures, working with learners who have behaviour social and mental health problems and be able to empathise with pupils' difficulties to cover and lead learning.

About The Service
This post carries an additional ALN payment.

Please note: This is a part-time role for 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. The advertised salary is based on a full-time position and will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis. The actual salary for this role will range from £19,776 to £22,668 per annum, depending on hours worked.

These posts have a requirement for registration with the Education Workforce Council.
