Knelston Primary School: Headteacher

Cyngor Abertawe
Knelston Primary School is situated in the middle of the Gower Peninsula AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). We are a happy, caring, and inclusive small primary that is at the heart of our large catchment area.

The school and its site are inviting. The physical environment is extensive, vibrant and extremely well loved and maintained providing excellent opportunities for outdoor learning.

The Governors are looking for a passionate, innovative and inspirational leader who has the necessary professional skills to build on the solid foundations and excellent relationships that are already in place.

The successful candidate must be a dynamic, resilient leader who will grow the existing vision for the school, whilst driving forward local and national priorities. From time to time, there may be a teaching element to this role.

We are looking for a highly visible and approachable headteacher who must demonstrate:
  • A commitment to enhance our distinctive and inclusive vision and ethos.
  • A passion for supporting and improving the wellbeing of all.
  • A belief that all children, regardless of background or ability, can succeed.
  • Strong strategic leadership skills and a commitment to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning, enabling every child to reach their full potential.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to motivate and empower others.
  • The ability to look beyond the school gates and develop positive, effective relationships with families and the wider community.

In return, we can offer you:
  • A professional and caring team of staff.
  • Happy, engaged children who enjoy learning and wider opportunities.
  • An extensive, well-cared for physical environment.
  • Caring, nurturing environment that allows all pupils to develop positive aspirations and achieve high standards.
  • Supportive and engaged parents.
  • Dedicated and experienced governors.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional learning at all levels.

Applicants who are not already headteachers are required to have NPQH.
