An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Rugby within the Sport, Tourism and Public Services department at Cardiff and Vale College. This role will be based across campuses. The successful applicant will lead the rugby academy through the WRU Welsh Schools and Colleges League and Cup competition.

Responsibilities include:
  • Responsible to Deputy Head of Sport, Tourism and Public Services for the day-to-day management of the rugby programme and its operation. To create a culture, which encourages high personal standards on and off the field, commensurate with a high-performance environment.
  • Recruit, monitor and line manage the performance of all assistant Rugby coaches, interns and volunteers within the male and female rugby programme.
  • Continue to develop a development team to ensure they play weekly in the Welsh Schools and Colleges League and the AoC league structure.
  • Complete all administration tasks for all rugby academies, including organising fixtures, booking transport, organising officials and liaising with other colleges.
  • Lead on delivering marketing and promotional media for the male and female rugby programmes.
  • Help recruit students for the rugby academy across all courses in the college
  • Build links with local rugby clubs to aid recruitment across all provision and enhance community relationships.
  • To work with staff and students to design and implement rugby opportunities and cross college events in particular to help with the raising of student aspirations and achievement and to provide creativity and fun for learners.
  • Implement a succession-planning rugby programme through recruitment, retention and transition of players into the college academy.
  • Liaise with course tutors and Heads of Department to ensure leaners are progresseing well on their programme of study.

    Welsh language skills would be desirable for this role.
