The Governors are seeking to appoint a part-time Pool Lifeguard as soon as possible to cover a shortfall in support staff. The successful candidate will be qualified to Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding. The post will be fixed term and subject to a six-month probationary period as applied by CCoS rules.
The post will be temporary until 31 August 2025 in the first instance.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To ensure all pool users do so in a safe and controlled manner
Checking pool environment is safe and ready for the day's activities.
Under the direction of the Head of Boys and/or Girls PE ensure the correct setting up of all associated pool side equipment/activities.
Patrolling of the pool side to ensure the safety of pool users and where necessary step in and direct staff where there is an issue that is threatening the health and safety of the user.
Patrolling of pool side areas to ensure that the equipment and materials provided are secure and are not misused, that behaviour on site is appropriate and informing supervisory staff and the school of any problems.
Keeping areas tidy and free from litter.
Maintaining associated records as required, e.g. first aid accident reporting.
Ensuring that all equipment is clean, correctly stored and tidy at the end of the session.
Administering emergency first aid where the need arises.
Undertake training and development in accordance with the School's CPD programme.
Undertaking mandatory training in line with the role of the Pool Lifeguard/RLSS requirements. Support with the cleaning and organising equipment and kit.
Supervising fitness suite as required during pupil's lunch times to offer this area for pupils.
Support during PE lessons.
To observe health and safety procedures.
To adhere to all fire regulations and procedures.
This post has a First Aid responsibility. Training will be provided.
Managing staff (where appropriate):
Meetings & events:
To attend meetings of the PE Team and of the whole Support Staff. All support colleagues are welcome to attend ALL meetings (as included on the annual calendar).
Professional Development:
To be responsible for personal professional development making full use of advisory/support services and other external inputs and maintain a high level of current awareness regarding developments in pool/swimming safety.
Other Duties:
To support the learning needs of pupils across the school, members of the LC team may be directed to support elsewhere in school.
Other reasonable duties as requested by the Headteacher.
