Following the appointment of our new Headteacher, Governors are seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspirational Deputy Headteacher to join our senior leadership team and help shape the next stage of our development.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will become a key member of a highly effective senior leadership team and will play a central role in shaping the strategic direction of the school.

Whilst the portfolio will be agreed in discussion with the successful candidate, Governors are particularly interested in applicants who can demonstrate a strong track record in one or more of the following areas:
  • Securing excellence in Teaching and Learning
  • Improving learner wellbeing, behaviour and attendance
  • Leading inclusion and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
  • Curriculum design and implementation within the Welsh context
  • Developing leadership capacity across the organisation
  • Leading self-evaluation, quality assurance and school improvement processes to secure sustained improvements in learner outcomes and experiences

We are seeking a Deputy Headteacher who is passionate about securing exceptional outcomes for all learners, with particular expertise in improving wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and engagement, and who believes that every young person deserves to feel known, supported and challenged to achieve their very best.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute significantly to the school's strategic priorities of raising standards, reducing gaps in attainment, improving attendance and ensuring that every learner feels safe, valued and able to succeed.

We Are Seeking a Leader Who:
  • Has a proven track record of successful senior leadership within secondary education.
  • Is passionate about securing the highest standards of teaching, learning and achievement.
  • Has significant experience of leading whole-school improvement and managing change.
  • Has substantial experience of leading and contributing to rigorous self-evaluation processes and can use evidence effectively to identify priorities, plan strategically and secure sustainable school improvement.
  • Can articulate a compelling vision for education within the Welsh context and Curriculum for Wales.
  • Demonstrates an unwavering commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and learner wellbeing.
  • Has the ability to inspire, challenge and develop colleagues at all levels.
  • Understands the importance of developing the whole child, both academically and personally.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
  • Is committed to working in partnership with learners, parents, governors and the wider community.
  • Believes passionately in the potential of every young person and is committed to ensuring all learners can Believe, Belong and Achieve.

The Successful Candidate Will:
  • Work closely with the Headteacher and Governing Body to provide strategic leadership for the school.
  • Lead significant aspects of the School Development Plan and self-evaluation processes.
  • Drive excellence in teaching, learning and curriculum development.
  • Champion wellbeing, inclusion, attendance and high expectations for all learners.
  • Support the development of middle and senior leaders across the school.
  • Help ensure every learner experiences success, belonging and opportunity.
  • Use evidence and data intelligently to identify priorities and secure measurable improvement.
  • Lead and inspire staff through coaching, professional learning and distributed leadership.
  • Champion the progress and wellbeing of vulnerable learners, including those experiencing disadvantage, barriers to learning or attendance concerns.
  • Build a culture where learner voice, staff voice and community engagement meaningfully influence decision making.
  • Model visible, values-driven leadership that places children at the heart of every decision.
