About usThe role is part of the Vale of Glamorgan, Visual Impairment Service, within the Vale of Glamorgan's Wellbeing and ALN Directorate.
You would be joining a well-established service which would involve working across the Vale of Glamorgan with pupils from birth to 25yrs.
The main focus of the role I to provide outreach teaching, advice and support to those working with our MSI pupils across the Vale, but also liaising with outside agencies.
You would be part of an energetic and supportive ALN team who are passionate about supporting pupils with ALN.

About the role
Working Pattern: 32.5 hours, 5 days a week
Pay Details: £32,433 - £49,944 Yearly Rate
TMS/UPS + ALN allowance
Work would be across the Vale of Glamorgan based in the Civic Offices in Barry.
TMS/UPS + 2SEN for teachers with the mandatory qualification in multi-sensory impairment.
Or
TMS/UPS +1SEN for teachers without the mandatory qualification in multi-sensory impairment.
Description:
The role involves supporting Vale of Glamorgan pupils with a Multi-Sensory and Visual need ensuring access to the curriculum enabling them to be fully involved in all aspects of school life. The role takes place within Vale schools, specialist provisions and other educational establishments where Vale pupils are placed, from 0 to 25.
The successful candidate will work with pupils with Visual needs from birth to 25
About you
You will need:
- Understanding of the different educational and social needs of pupils with a multi-sensory impairment and additional learning needs and the effects of loss of hearing and vision on learning
- Previous and recent experience of working with children in primary, secondary and/or specialist setting, capable of supporting pupils with MSI and/or VI in ALL curriculum areas
- Ability to work flexibly, and as part of a team in a variety of settings
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and use initiative
- Ability to write reports and profiles, clearly and accurately and communicate effectively
- Willing and able to learn new skills and to undertake training as required
- Understanding of the new curriculum and ability to promote pupil's independent learning.
- Understanding of ALNET and the IDP process.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- The ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders
- An understanding of how to track pupil's achievements, write targets and make judgements about progress
- Teacher of the Multi-Sensory Impairment Mandatory qualification
- A full UK driving licence with Business Insurance and willingness to travel across various settings.
