Youth Worker - Prevention

Job Description

This is a fixed term post expexted to last until 31/03/2025.

The Pembrokeshire Youth Justice Team are seeking to employ a Youth Officer to work on crime prevention across Pembrokeshire with children between the ages of 8-18 in both group & 1:1 settings. The role will incorporate working in public buildings including both formal and non-formal education settings such as Schools, youth centres and community settings as well as people's homes.

Strong multi-agency working skills are required as links with other services such as Police, Fire Service, Road safety unit and Children's Services are essential to effectively deliver prevention programmes.

The successful candidate should have sound assessment, recording and reporting skills and good knowledge of how to assess risk and needs of children using a child first approach. Prior knowledge or experience of youth justice interventions is desirable but a full programme of professional development will be offered to assist the role.

This role requires someone who has good engagement skills to work with children on the cusp of offending. The role is very diverse and dynamic due to the client group but also very rewarding.

Safeguarding and public protection are also vital skills to the role.
