Sea View Primary School is a school at the heart of the community in Mayhill, Swansea. We are all extremely proud of our happy and vibrant school, our pupils and their families and our dedicated, caring staff.

We offer our pupils a broad and balanced curriculum. We want our pupils to develop as independent, creative learners and we strive to provide a range of engaging and challenging experiences for all.
The governors are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and skilled person to the post of Deputy Headteacher to join our friendly and professional team.

The right candidate for this post will have experience of teaching and leading at a whole school level and will have a proven track record of planning strategically to manage, motivate and inspire teams of teachers in innovative strategies to improve learning and teaching.

The Governors are seeking to appoint a well-motivated and outstanding leader with drive and enthusiasm to the post of Deputy Headteacher to commence on 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible.

THE POST REQUIRES:
  • An excellent classroom practitioner from whom others can learn, and who is willing to take a leading role in the development of teaching and learning across the school.
  • An analyst, with an eye for detail, who can summarise trends in pupil data and track individual pupil progress.
  • A high level of digital competency including the ability to create/edit web pages, use Google Drives, Excel spreadsheets, Teams and a Hwb SharePoint.
  • The ability to focus on strategy and vision and play a significant role in the strategic direction of the school.
  • The ability to draft evaluative reports and make presentations which demonstrate impact.
  • The necessary skills to Deputise for the Headteacher gained from first-hand management experience of a busy school.
  • The ability to use restorative practice and other positive approaches to managing behaviour across the school.
  • Strength of character and a sense of humour that motivates pupils and staff.
  • Resilience and a tireless ambition to improve the school using energy and enthusiasm.
  • The commitment to establishing and maintaining a variety of rich extra-curricular activities for pupils, parents, staff, and the community.
  • The patience, kindness, and empathy to help others including pupils, staff, governors, parents, and the local community.
  • The determination and strength of character to challenge underperformance and maintain a strong professional opinion if it leads to improvements for others.
  • Decisiveness under pressure and the courage to take risks.
  • A leader with an in-depth understanding of the approaches to self-evaluation and school improvement.
  • A leader who believes in curriculum transformation in line with the Curriculum for Wales, 2022, who will seek out collaboration with others, and lead curriculum design.
  • Being prepared to take responsibility for deputising for the headteacher as the Governing Body's Responsible Individual for the Flying Start Setting.
  • A leader with the aspiration to be a Headteacher.
