Pillgwenlly Primary School is situated in the docks area of inner-city Newport, the Local Education Authority (LEA) in which it is located. There are 660 pupils on roll from the ages of three to eleven which includes a nursery. The school serves a multi-cultural, diverse community and reflects 38 different languages spoken, with the percentage of children with English as an additional language at 81.7%.

This is an exciting opportunity for Learning Support Assistants to join our new school building and dedicated team of staff. The new building provides first-class facilities, including a 4G sports pitch, where our growing school community can thrive and flourish. These roles are very important to our school.

The Headteacher and Governors of Pillgwenlly Primary School are seeking to appoint four Learning Support Assistants (Level 2) to work on a permanent basis in the Learning Resource Base.

The posts are offered on a part time basis of 32 hours and 30 minutes per week, over 39 weeks per year (term time only). Hours of work will be Monday to Friday: 8.30am -3.30pm term time only.

The successful applicant will work under the guidance/direction of the School's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and support the Teacher in the Learning Resource Base.

Experience of working with children with Autism will be an advantage.

You will be expected to have extensive experience of working with children within a school setting.

A nurturing, positive and caring attitude is an essential part of this role, as well as being able to work as part of a large team.

THIS POST REQUIRES YOU TO BE REGISTERED WITH THE EWC.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to a satisfactory DBS Check.
