Attendance and Family Engagement Officer - Cwmbran High School

Torfaen Local Authority

Cyflog: Grade 6 | SCP 18-23 | £29,269 - £32,076 Pro Rata

Cwmbran High School is seeking to employ a highly energetic and enthusiastic Attendance & Family Engagement Officer.

We are a rapidly improving school with high aspirations and expectations for all. Our aim is simple to ensure all children achieve their full potential, providing consistently high-quality learning and teaching experiences.

Staff professional development is fundamental to our improvement journey. We invest heavily in providing staff with a bespoke package of support, tailored to their own individual needs. Learning and teaching is central in everything we do, and we are developing an enquiry-led culture that drives our professional learning.

We are committed to ensuring all our pupils develop as successful individuals, from our most vulnerable pupils to our more able and talented learners. We recognise that for pupils to achieve their potential, their learning needs to be personalised to meet their individual needs. We also recognise that learning is more than academic achievement but should be centred on the development of the whole child, including their personal development.

Ultimately, we strive to be a centre where learning is valued, and pupils achieve their potential in a happy and safe community where they show respect and tolerance for others.

The post holder will be expected to:

  • Provide support to the school's pastoral team in dealing with attendance issues
  • The primary focus is to improve pupil attendance, improve the inclusion of targeted pupils and promote pupil progress
  • Undertake administrative work and care for children including tracking NEETS and eFSM, vulnerable learners and targeted groups
  • Support families through interventions at the preventative and protective stages
  • Drive improvements to family support through design and delivery and, in so doing, reduce the numbers of families developing more complex needs and requiring more intensive and costly interventions
  • Lead programmes that aim to bring the whole family together to engage them in purposeful and outcome focussed activities in order to raise their aspirations and engage families in attending education
